THESE homemade burgers are so easy to make and they’re a tasty change from beef burgers.
Kids absolutely love to both eat them and muck in with making them, too. They’re a healthy option, as turkey is low in fat and a good source of protein.
They only take 10 minutes to prepare, but if you want to be super-organised, make them the night before and chill them overnight. That allows the flavours to develop further, too.
You’ll need:
500g ground turkey
2 tbsp soy sauce
50g bell pepper, chopped
Mixed herbs or thyme
4 slices of Del Monte® Pineapple Slices
4 slices of red onion
4 burger buns
Lettuce leaves
Method:
Preheat the grill to medium-high.
Combine the turkey, soy sauce and bell pepper in a bowl. Season, then add some dried or fresh thyme or some mixed herbs. Mix well.
Divide mixture into four equal portions and form into patties.
Place the burgers, four pineapple slices and the red onion slices on the grill.
After approximately eight minutes, flip the burgers, the pineapple slices (the underside should be nice and brown) and the onion slices.
Cook for an additional three to five minutes, or until burgers are cooked thoroughly and no longer pink in the centre.
Place one burger, one pineapple slice and one red onion slice inside each bun with lettuce leaves and add your favourite sauce.
