A FORMER theatre manager turned toilet cleaner is hoping to boost Millport’s tourism – from inside the loos she scrubs.
Suki McGregor, who calls herself the Cumbrae Cludgie Cleaner, has become an internet star since she began filming her “bog vlogs” from the public conveniences dotted around the west coast holiday spot.
The 55-year-old gave up her job as general manager of Hopscotch Theatre Company, a position she’d held for 23 years, last month to become the island’s new lavatory landlord and already she’s proved to be flushed with success.
Enthusiastic Suki describes her new role as “the most lovely job in a little paradise island”.
She explained: “I had never been to Cumbrae until 10 years ago, when I came to visit a friend, and I loved it so much.
“Millport has been home for four years but I had to rent a room in Glasgow for my job with the theatre company.
“I booked tours and was in charge of marketing. It was stressful being responsible for so many people.
“When I saw the toilet job advertised I thought it was time to do something stress-free.”
Her engaging video blogs combine updates about the toilets with local information and beautiful views of the island.
“I thought it would be interesting to talk about Millport while in the toilets,” she added.
“I’ve already done a video about finding the standing stone and one from the community garden, and I have more ideas.
“I also shot a live video of the septic tanks being emptied at breakfast time!”
Is your local loo a shining example? Or do you know where the best kept bog in Scotland is
