Ann-Marie Harper, 64, from Ayrshire, truly lives up to her Instagram username – GlamourGranAnn.
The talented make-up artist shares her cosmetic creations with her followers while also raising awareness of mental health issues by opening up about her battle with depression.
Here, she talks us through her most treasured pictures.
Beauty lessons
I’ve worked in the world of beauty and make-up for decades and I still train regularly to keep up with the latest trends. Sometimes I even practise on myself.
I love using make-up to enhance people and seeing the joy on their face when they see themselves transformed. Through make-up I’m now part of a wonderful global community and I’ve had amazing support from so many people. I run masterclasses as well as supporting many charities with make up events. My dream is to bring out my own range.
Dancing queen
I was a Latin dancer when I was younger and still absolutely love dancing whenever I can.
As someone who suffers from depression, dancing is so therapeutic. The glitz and glamour of ballroom and Latin, dancing is just so good for your soul. This was me at an event, putting on my best dance pro face!
Hugs and happiness
I suffered from depression for a long time and kept quiet about it as I grew up with a manic depressive mother. I finally opened up in the last couple of years.
I now speak at events and talk to people about mental health challenges. I get so many people messaging to say thank you. It’s such a good feeling to help people. I still have bad days, but I have coping mechanisms. This is me with my gorgeous granddaughter – a cuddle from her always helps!
My love, my rock
I have a wonderful family – daughter Nicola, son David and husband Billy, who is my rock, always by my side, no matter what. This is a photo of us at a family gathering.
We’ve been married for 39 years but we always make time for date night. Both Nicola and David are so wonderful to me and provide me with so much support and joy. I’m so proud of both of my children and their families.
