It’s a busy life being a grandma. But for Gail King, every moment spent with family, especially the four grandchildren she adores, is a blessing.
Here, the 58-year-old mum of two from Brechin, who also took Beth, a third child who had lost both parents, under her wing, shares some favourite pictures from her social media accounts…
A fishergran, too
I’m a pretty hands-on gran and have been there for all four grandchildren from the early days. I love spending time with them – and getting them outside at every opportunity.
We love going to the park and playing in the woods, looking for fairies and trolls!
This picture is of me taking Jack and Naomi fishing at Forbes of Kingennie near Dundee.
It was a successful trip, with Jack catching the only fish of the day.
Proud parents
One of my proudest moments came when my daughter graduated from Dundee University as a nurse.
Now all the women of the family work at Stracathro Hospital, so it has become a bit of an institution for us.
I am a night domestic, Gemma is a generic (covers porters and domestic holidays), Rachel is a theatre scrub nurse and Beth is a van driver.
Work is definitely a family affair!
Girls’ day out
The girls of the family have a tradition where we set a date once a year and go to the theatre to see a musical.
It’s usually in Edinburgh or Aberdeen, so we just make a day of it.
Here, I’m with my daughters Rachel and Gemma, sister Sonia, and niece Mhairi before going to see Shrek: The Musical.
We had afternoon tea before, and dinner and cocktails after.
Our hideaway
This picture was taken on one of my trips to the Isle of Harris with husband Tony.
We’ve had a couple of holidays there over the years.
We rent a cottage which overlooks the sea.
It’s a beautiful place. The beaches are so peaceful and quiet and we love to do a bit fishing and touring around all the scenic places.
