Leanne Traynor will spend the next four months terrorising Oor Wullie every night – and she’s having the time of her life.
The actor is playing school bully and Wullie’s nemesis Basher McKenzie in the stage musical of Scotland’s favourite comic strip.
The production opened in Dundee last night and will tour around the country into the New Year.
Leanne, a graduate of Dundee Rep, said: “It’s great playing the villain, there is so much fun and life in it, and I think it makes it even better to play the baddie at Christmas time – it’s been a riot.”
Leanne, who comes from Dundee, says the design and wardrobe departments have made the pages of the comic strip come to life.
“I wasn’t quite sure how it would work, but when I saw the beautiful colours it took on a certain vibe and I do feel like a cartoon when I’m on the stage.”
Martin Quinn stars as Oor Wullie, while River City and Trainspotting star Annie Louise Ross is PC Murdoch.
Oor Wullie The Musical, Dundee Rep Theatre, from Saturday until January 5
