THE UK’s youngest MP has said she is not about to quit Westminster.
Mhairi Black, the SNP MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire South, was cheered by delegates at the SNP spring conference in Aberdeen when she announced she is “going nowhere until the job is done”.
There had been speculation about Ms Black – who was elected at the age of 20 in 2015 by ousting shadow foreign secretary Douglas Alexander – after she said she found the House of Commons “depressing”.
When asked if she would stand for re-election in 2020, the former chip shop worker told Sunday Post reporter Rachel Wearmouth: “I don’t know. It has been nearly two years and I still hate the place.”
But speaking at the conference, she said: “I should start by making clear to conference and to party members and also to my constituents that despite recent media reports from various outlets, I’m going nowhere until the job is done.”
