My Favourite Holiday: Aliza Reger found life was a breeze on the beautiful isle of Majorca

ALIZA REGER is the daughter of lingerie-designing legend Janet Reger.

Aged just 10, Aliza was gift-wrapping boxes for a client base including Bianca Jagger and Joan Collins.

By her mid-30s she was running the business and she now focuses on designing collections while her husband Andrew looks after the day-to-day operation of the empire.

I GREW up in Switzerland, Germany and Austria, so travel has always been a part of my life.

But the place I return to time and time again is Majorca.

I know it’s far from exotic, but it’s definitely my go-to place.

It’s only two hours flying time from London and when you get to the island nowhere is far away, so travelling around is a breeze.

The island is beautiful, the weather is gorgeous and the people are lovely, so it really does tick every box.

I first went when I was 10 and in some ways things didn’t get off to the best of starts.

We’d sort of taken over a holiday that had been booked by another family who couldn’t go because the kids took ill.

It was rushed and the hotel was pretty poor – but I didn’t care because I was there with a bunch of other kids and we just had so much fun.

I tend to go back just about every year for seven to 10 days. Palma and Deia are two of the places we’ve been and we’ll either rent a villa or stay at a hotel.

Friends of ours also have a place there and also a boat – and that certainly adds to the appeal.

We’ll either dine out or Andrew will tour the markets looking for local produce to cook in the evening.

The other place I’d have to pick is South Africa.

I spent a lot of time there for business and it really won me over.

Cape Town is a special place for a holiday but the thing that really sticks in my memory is going on the most amazing safari.

I loved absolutely everything about it. The lodges were brilliant and with no TV there was peace, perfect peace, and you could just marvel at the starry skies.

The animal encounters were magical.

When you are just five metres away from elephants and lions and rhinos then you fully appreciate the sheer majesty of these wonderful creatures.
