AS a kid, my backyard was where everyone else wanted to go on holiday.
I grew up in Newquay in Cornwall and it was a five-minute run – I ran everywhere at that age – from Fistral Beach.
I love the wildness and it’s still one of my favourite places on the planet.
We have a house in Portugal and that’s where we go every summer.
I know that, right now, I could grab my passport, wallet and keys and wouldn’t need anything else, everything’s there.

It needn’t be fancy and expensive, it’s just such a relaxing place to go.
You know it’ll be sunny every day and I tell the time in the morning by where it’s shining through the window, not by a clock.
Our dream place is the Maldives, which I think we’ve been to three times with the girls.
They love it so much, my wife and I are banned from going back without them.
When we have some time off Stephanie and I say we’re off there – you can imagine how that goes down a treat.
But one place that’s always been on my list to tick off was South Africa, so when This Morning asked if we wanted to go, we almost bit their hand off.
Going with a TV crew meant they’d planned everything, from Table Mountain to getting into a cage and seeing great white sharks.
We went on a safari that was just amazing, so we’re already planning to go back for a holiday with the girls.
Watching Planet Earth 2 is one thing, having a lion just feet away is even more wonderful.
We had a few days to ourselves and, knowing I’m hugely into wine, this guy gave me a tour I’ll never forget.
They say you get educated as you drink – and I learned a LOT!
