Chances are, you are looking for some ways to blow away the cobwebs now we are in the depths of Twixmas.
Aberdeenshire-based Kirsty Lal shared her favourite spots for a cosy getaway or adventurous day-trip, whatever takes your fancy.
Glenorchy Farm
If you’re searching for the perfect spot to get away and relax, Glenorchy is the place for you. The beautiful Glen hosts two cabins that are perfect for some R&R. The farm shop stocks plenty of tasty treats. There’s an outdoor Swedish wood-fired bath which is ideal post-hike, and they’re dog friendly too!
Potarch Café
This is my new favourite spot in Aberdeenshire. A cosy café, with a wholesome menu that focuses on local, seasonal produce. They provide a curated selection of specialty coffee, home bakes, brunch and lunch dishes – their French toast is a dream.
Ben Macdui and Derry Cairngorm
If you’re up for a big day out and the weather is on your side, this is my top choice for a hike. Nestled up in the heart of the Cairngorms, Ben Macdui is the second highest peak in Britain. The views are nothing short of spectacular.
