Glasgow-based couple Emma and Mark have been sharing their foodie favourites on their blog since 2007.
Now going by Foodie Explorers, they also incorporate the best places to see and stay across Scotland.
We challenged them to pick their top three favourite spots and they took us all over the country.
Celantano’s
Celentano’s in Glasgow is our favourite restaurant at the moment with a fine selection of wine, homemade vermouth and limoncello and then of course, there is the food.
Mixed Scottish-Italian cuisine or steak is available, plus the biggest chip we have ever seen! Ok, so it’s official name is ‘potato strati’ and it is carb heaven. Potato layers cooked in beef fat, it is worth visiting just for this. The menu is designed for sharing and for a relaxed night of eating.
Buachaillie Etive Mor
Just before Glencoe from the south, you’ll see Buachaillie Etive Mor on the left hand side.
One of our favourite things to do on a trip north is to stop off at the Kingshouse Hotel. After a coffee with a view, you can say hello to the deer that wander around the grounds. They seem to know when and where to pose for the best photos.
We camped along the road for New Year once…once, it was -12 degrees!
Nairn
Nairn is famous for its gorgeous beaches and relaxing walks. We recently stayed at Golf View Hotel in Nairn and just had to keep the window open all night to hear the sound of the sea. Is there anything better than falling asleep to the calming waves?
