James Campbell is passionate about showcasing Scotland’s stunning stays, walks and waters.
We challenged him to narrow down his top three must-visit spots to visit so you can get planning for the new year.
Inveraray
My most frequently visited place in Scotland. This town on the banks of Loch Fyne has everything I need to unwind. Cold water swims in the loch, walks up to Dun Na Cuaiche overlooking the town, history in the stunning castle, spa days in the Loch Fyne Hotel and Spa, all topped off with amazing food and dancing the night away in the George Hotel.
Sango Sands Campsite
This place is easily my favourite place to stay on the famous NC500 route in Durness. It has amazing views out over the North Atlantic, stunning white beaches for wild swimming that would give the Maldives a run for their money and a great pub to spend the night in mixing with other travelers from all over the world.
The Edge
This masterpiece of an Airbnb just outside Arbroath has got to have one of the most stunning bedroom views in the country.
Sleeping five and complete with floor to ceiling windows, a hot tub and landscaped gardens it’s the perfect place to unwind. Visit nearby Arbroath for the famous smokies and Lunan beach for morning walks.
