With a new year comes new opportunities to get out and about and explore Scotland.

Based in Edinburgh – but always on the move – Ailsa and Lyndsey are Girls Around Scotland. Through their social media, they are sharing their guide to food, travel and life in Scotland.

We asked the pair which three spots should be at the top of your list to visit in 2025.

Whispering Pine Lodge

The ultimate cosy staycation. Image: Girls Around Scotland

The Whispering Pine Lodge is a cosy retreat in Spean Bridge with stunning views over Loch Lochy. We stayed here in 2020 right after the lockdown had lifted, which made it all the more special as we had a renewed appreciation for travel. This hotel is a must-visit spot for taking in all the beauty Scotland has to offer.

Greenwoods

Make sure to try the breakfast stack. Image: Girls Around Scotland

Greenwoods is our undisputed favourite brunch spot found right in the city centre of our hometown, Edinburgh. The owner Jen ran both of the Amsterdam locations before bringing it over to Scotland in 2021 and we’ve been their biggest fans ever since. They pride themselves on using locally sourced ingredients and fresh produce, which feature throughout their creative menu. We always go for the breakfast stack which has a bit of everything!

North Berwick

North Berwick is perfect for a Sunday stroll. Image: Girls Around Scotland

We both grew up by the seaside and have such a soft spot for a Sunday strolling around the gorgeous East Lothian seaside town. There is so much to see and do but a few of our highlights are taking a long walk along the gorgeous beach, stopping for lunch at the Lobster Shack for delicious seafood, grabbing a coffee at Steampunk Coffee then heading up stairs to browse Orange Moon Records and treat ourselves to a vinyl.
