Edinburgh-based Ailish Buckley loves sharing all you need to know about Scotland’s capital.
She also has a fair few recommendations for where to visit across the rest of the country too.
Ailish revealed her favourite foodie spots, beaches for little adventurers and where to go for a little luxury.
Gleneagles
I always dreamed one day I’d be lucky enough to visit here and with some hard work and determination we got there.
This place is like no other. The grounds have breathtaking walks, breakfast is phenomenal and not to mention it’s a foodies paradise amongst everything else. This warm and welcoming 5-star experience will make you want to return time and time again.
It’s one to save your pennies for, you won’t regret it, I promise.
Traigh beach
One of my kids’ favourite spots when in Arisaig is Traigh beach. We spend hours here exploring the bustling rock pools filled with crabs, sea urchins and other wonders.
All free fun, and if you’re lucky enough to find the secret beach here you’ll think you’ve been transported somewhere tropical. Let’s also not forget that on a clear day you’ll clearly see the beautiful small isles of Rum, Eigg and Muck.
Crannog at The Bakehouse
One of our foodie highlights when travelling up the west coast is pizza at the Crannog at The Bakehouse in Mallaig.
Cooked fresh to order with high quality Scottish ingredients including venison, It’s amongst some of the best I have ever tasted. My only advice is to get down early or you might miss out.
