If you are looking for new things to see and do across Scotland, there are few better to help you along the way than Jenna Cockburn.
Based in East Lothian, Jenna is a broadcaster who reviews everything from theatre shows and gigs to new bars and restaurants.
We asked for her top three places to visit when she has downtime – which isn’t very often.
Glenfinnan
In the Highlands, where magic meets history, is the tranquil beauty of Glenfinnan. With the infamous viaduct sprawling the mountains, the commanding column of the kilted Highlander (Glenfinnan Monument), and the surrounding scenery of Loch Shiel, the views are breathtaking.
Time your visit perfectly, and you may just see The Jacobite Steam Train on its way to Hogwarts.
Edinburgh Street Food
Being a foodie and spoilt for choice in Edinburgh, I love to hit up Edinburgh Street Food.
Basking in the glow of neon lights, ESF offers an abundance of global taste sensations from award-winning traders. From burgers and bao buns to tacos and gyozas, pizza and curry, there’s something for everyone. Personal recommendation, check out Fred’s Backyard Barbecue for the best barbecue around.
Keeping it casual, Edinburgh Street Food is a banging spot to catch up with friends, enjoy live entertainment, and indulge in foods from around the world.
East Lothian
Home is where the heart is, and mine bides in beautiful East Lothian. I may be biased but there’s just so much to see and do here. You can explore magnificent castles and museums, relax on one of the stunning beaches, tour a brewery or distillery, enjoy exciting attractions and activities, taste the finest and freshest Scottish produce, meet the locals in a welcoming pub, and even stay in quirky places like a treehouse.
Fun Fact: East Lothian is one of the driest and sunniest places in Scotland. At night, is great for stargazing. You can even catch the Northern Lights.
