Sometimes, the best days out are found closer to home than you might expect.
Instead of straying further afield, Dawn Melvin chose to share some of her favourite haunts close to home when we asked for her top spots across Scotland.
Banchory
Home absolutely is where the heart is. One of my favourite places in Scotland has to be bonnie Banchory in Aberdeenshire. The beautiful walks, friendly faces and fantastic food options make it a no-brainer for me. My top recommendations are afternoon tea at Milton of Crathes or Falls of Feugh, lunch at Birdhouse or Liberty Kitchen and dinner at either Tor na Coille or Banchory Lodge.
Café Bohème
One of my favourite meals to date has been at Café Bohème in Aberdeen city centre. As someone with intolerances, it can be difficult to find somewhere to eat, but Café Bohème adapted their dishes to suit my needs without compromising on flavour. Their mussels were a standout for me and I throughly enjoyed the rice pudding for dessert. An amazing place for a special occasion or a date night.
Tippling House
The Tippling House will always be my go to on a date night. The staff are wonderful, the drinks are delicious and the atmosphere is exactly what you need to wind down for the weekend.
