Based in Glasgow, Anna Linskell shares her favourite food and travel spots from across the city and beyond.

Now that the leaves have started to change, we asked Anna for her top places to spend an autumnal day out.

Lunan Bay Beach

The perfect spot on a crisp autumn day. Image: Anna Linskell

Tucked away on the Angus coastline near Montrose is Lunan Bay, a remote oasis unlike any beach you’ve seen before. Surrounded by sand dunes and low cliffs, it really is a little piece of heaven. If you find yourself there on a sunny day, the east-facing beach looks like something out of a movie. Picture perfect.

The Birks of Aberfeldy

With autumn leaves lining the path and the distant sound of waterfalls, the Birks of Aberfeldy really comes to life at this time of the year and is one of my favourite walks on a sunny, crisp day. Of course, no walk around the Birks is complete without a stop at the Watermill Bookshop & Cafe for coffee and cake after. My idea of a perfect day out.

Visocchi’s, Broughty Ferry

Make sure to stop off if you are ever in the area. Image: Anna Linskell

A local institution best known for its hearty traditional Italian cooking, homemade gelato and artisan coffee, Visocchi’s in Broughty Ferry is a must-visit at any time of the year. If authentic, award-winning Italian food in a casual setting is your thing, then I recommend paying a visit next time you’re in Tayside area.
