Nigella Lawson has revealed that she wished she hadn’t filmed her early cooking shows in her own home.
She said she felt “consumed by others” when they were screened.
The celebrity cook’s first popular series, Nigella Bites on Channel 4 in 1999, was taped in the kitchen at her home in west London. As she became more famous and she joined the BBC, production shifted to custom-built sets.
Series including Nigellissima, At My Table and last year’s hit Cook, Eat, Repeat, were recorded in studios designed to look like her own kitchen, with personal possessions on view.
“I find the blurring of private and public slightly difficult,” Nigella said. “It never seemed to me I was invading my own privacy.”
