SUPPORTERS have rallied around a Scottish teacher who may have to return to Canada if her husband loses his right to stay in Britain.
Dawn McGuire Reeves, 55, whose stay in Aberdeenshire has been in question after her Canadian husband Craig Reeves’ spousal visa was refused by immigration authorities, has been backed by parents of children at her school.
Sheena Lawson, 41, who launched a petition last week, said Dawn was adored by her 10-year-old son, who was being assessed on the autistic spectrum.
She said: “I cannot tell you what a difference she has made or put a price on the support she has provided.
“It has been invaluable. He absolutely adores her.”
Laura Ferguson, 30, whose eight-year-old child has high-level support needs, said: “I would describe her as a godsend.
“It’s very hard to come by teachers like Dawn with that level of experience and knowledge.”
Dawn moved to Alford with Craig last year but following his application refusal the couple now face an immigration tribunal hearing at the end of this month.
Craig is due to travel to a wedding in Canada in June and has been told he will be unable to return.
If that happens, the couple will have to stay in Canada.
The Home Office said each visa application was assessed on its merits and in line with immigration rules.
