PARTICK THISTLE are to rename one of the stands at Firhill in honour of John Lambie.
The North Stand will be officially renamed The John Lambie Stand in memory of the club legend, who died on April 10 aged 77.
Chairman David Beattie said: “Given his contribution to the club during four separate spells in charge, we are unlikely to ever see John’s like again.
“It is a fitting and lasting tribute to someone who has had a more positive impact on the Jags than almost anyone else in the Club’s history.”
Signs will be put up in time for Saturday’s match against Hamilton, who Lambie also managed.
His family will be in attendance at the game, where there’ll be a minute’s applause before kick-off.
In a statement, his family said: “The family is pleased and proud to see that the Club has renamed the North Stand as The John Lambie Stand. It means so much to us – and we know how much it would mean to him.
“We would like to thank everyone, from fans to the Club and the wider football family, for their love, support and friendship in the last few difficult weeks. To see how loved John was and knowing that his name will live on is a great comfort to us.”
The funeral for Lambie, one of Scottish football’s prominent characters, was held on Tuesday.
