Supermodel Linda Evangelista has backed the women who have accused her former husband of sexual misconduct and rape.
Nine women have now told how they were abused by Gérald Marie, the former European president of the Elite model agency.
Ms Evangelista, who was married to Marie between 1987 and 1993, has praised their bravery and said she believes their accounts.
The 55-year-old said: “During my relationship with Gérald Marie, I knew nothing of these sexual allegations against him, so I was unable to help these women.
“Hearing them now, and based on my own experiences, I believe that they are telling the truth.
“It breaks my heart because these are wounds that may never heal, and I admire the courage and strength of the women for speaking up today.”
French prosecutors are investigating allegations, including rape, from four women. Marie, 70, has insisted he is innocent.
