5 amazing places to stay in Scotland
Black Isle Pods and Chalet
Black Isle Pods is a family-run business in the Black Isle countryside just 10 miles north of Inverness and three miles from the main A9 road to the north. It is well situated for exploring the Highlands and the NC500.
The family’s aim is to provide a pleasant, comfortable and memorable stay for all guests.
The accommodation consists of three cosy, fully insulated luxury glamping pods, all self-contained each with a double bed, sofa bed, ensuite shower room, kitchenette and smart TV. They also have their own private hot tub.
There is a separate laundry with washing machine and tumble dryer, and a well-stocked shed with wood to purchase for fire pits, local ice cream, ice lollies and cans of juice, books and magazines.
The site’s comfortable fully self-contained chalet, An Sealladh, has a double and single bedroom and can sleep up to four or five people. It sits enclosed in its own private garden, has decking and a large six-person covered hot tub. It has ramped access and, as its name suggests (An Sealladh means ‘view’), has a superb view to the south over Munlochy Bay and on towards the Cairngorms.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome in all properties. The Black Isle is a beautiful area with its beaches, harbours, dolphin spotting and many walks.

Crakaig Loth Campsite
When it comes to places to stay in Scotland, Crakaig Loth Campsite is the perfect base to explore Helmsdale and the Highlands.
The laid-back attitude to choosing your own pitch on arrival ensures that you will enjoy a stress-free time from the moment you arrive.
Allowing you to enjoy the magnificent views and hopefully catch some sun on the lovely sandy beach, this whole section of Sutherland coast is one big stretch of golden sands. It’s located on the NC500 trail just outside of the village of Brora with a spectacular sandy beach.
Crakaig Seaside Caravan Site, also known as Crakaig Loth Campsite, offers campers a semi-wild feel camping experience with the comforts of a toilet and shower block.
Be aware to access this site you must pass through a rather narrow tunnel, so it’s only suitable for smaller campervans.
Pitches are set on the grass and within the dunes looking out towards the stunning beach and North Sea. From the site, you can go wild swimming, take a long walk along the coast or relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Nearby you will find the village of Brora which has pubs, shops, restaurants and is home to the recently re-opened Brora Distillery (Clynelish Distillery is also located within Brora).
Campfires are permitted within the grass and the beach where you can cook up some local seafood or just roast some marshmallows.
