A MAN has been arrested after an incident involving a crossbow in Lanarkshire.
Armed police attended the scene in Blantyre this morning after a man was reported to be inside a property in Morris Crescent with the weapon.

A Lanarkshire Police spokesperson said: “A 36 year old man has been arrested and is presently detained in police custody in connection with an incident in Morris Crescent, Blantyre.”
Local schools which had been placed on lockdown will operate as normal for the rest of the day after the man’s detainment.

Video footage from the scene shows that the house at the centre of the incident burst into flames following the stand-off, with explosions heard.
Details on how the blaze started are yet to be confirmed but no-one is thought to have been in the house at the time.
