Police continued their investigation yesterday after a car belonging to Rangers and former Scotland goalkeeper Allan McGregor was set alight at his home.
The vehicle was torched in what is understood to have been a targeted attack, leading to a major police investigation.
Video footage has emerged showing a significant fire on the player’s driveway at his Glasgow home.
Police, who are appealing for anyone with information, said: “We were made aware of a vehicle fire outside a property at around 10.40pm on September 3.
“The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident. Nobody was injured and the fire is being treated as wilful. Inquiries are ongoing.”
One witness claimed the flames were very close to the house, which is located in an upmarket area on the outskirts of the city. They stated a car sitting in the drive was “fully alight”, adding that the incident caused a “huge commotion” in the normally quiet road.
The witness said: “It’s terrifying to think someone may have done this deliberately.”
McGregor, 38, who was capped 42 times, is in his second spell with Rangers and has become a mainstay of the team under manager Steven Gerrard.
