MARRIED, with two children, Nik and Eva Speakman are the life change therapists on ITV’s This Morning, giving advice on anxiety issues and phobias.
Their celebrity clients include Jeremy Kyle, Holly Willoughby and Kym Marsh.
Ahead of Valentine’s Day I asked them, separately, about their attitudes to love and life. How will their answers compare?
Who is the more romantic?
Eva: I’d have to say Nik is more romantic than I am, but we’d both cry together at a soppy film.
Nik: It’s definitely me. I’m the more romantic one.
Who is more likely to admit they’re wrong?
Eva: We’re equal on that, unless I scrape the car wheel trims. Then I just say nothing and hope he doesn’t notice.
Nik: I think we’re about the same.
What is the song you both consider “your song?”
Eva: Our wedding song. Endless Love by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross.
Nik: Have I Told You Lately That I Love You by Van Morrison.
Would you be upset if the other forgot Valentine’s?
Eva: No. Not at all. That’s not worth getting upset over.
Nik: No. I can honestly say it wouldn’t bother me.
Who is the more self-sufficient?
Eva: It’s me. I am the more self-sufficient.
Nik: That’s got to be me. I’m the one who’s more self-sufficient.
Complete the sentence “Love is…….”
Eva: The best thing ever.
Nik: Just the best thing ever.
How long after you met did you fall in love?
Eva: I fell in love from our very first kiss.
Nik: It was on our first date. We went to the zoo, then the cinema and bowling, and finally a meal. It was a mega date and we laughed constantly.
What is the other’s most annoying habit?
Eva: Nik has the loudest sneeze. It drives me and the kids nuts. If he’s about to sneeze we all shout “Quietly!” He’s also crazy about cats and we now have more cats than humans in the house.
Nik: Eva makes me mad by never putting the tops back on bottles or containers.
Who is more likely to spend money?
Eva: That’s got to be Nik. Definitely Nik.
Nik: I am.
You have 24 hours to live. How do you spend it?
Eva: I live and breathe being a mum, so I’d be with Nik and the children at Disney in Florida, ending with tequila shots and karaoke.
Nik: Cuddled up with our kids watching our favourite movies and eating junk food.
