Gerrard will face the media in a press conference at Ibrox at 3pm.
In a statement released on the Rangers website, Gerrard said: “I am honoured to become the next manager of Rangers. I have enormous respect for this football club, and its history and tradition.
“I can’t wait to start this new journey at Rangers as we look to build on the many successes that this Club has achieved.”

Chairman Dave King added that he believed Gerrard “is the right man to drive Rangers forward” and has the “necessary knowledge and temperament to lead the Club to the success we all desire”.
Fans have gathered outside the stadium to welcome the former England captain to Glasgow.
It’s Gerrard’s first senior management job, having previously managed Liverpool’s under 18s.
Gary McAllister is expected to be named as his assistant, with the full team of backroom staff to be announced at a later date.
