JAMIE MURPHY has joined Rangers from Brighton on loan until the end of the season.
The 29-year-old is then set to join the Ibrox club permanently in the summer for a fixed fee that has been guaranteed between the two clubs.
Brighton boss Chris Hughton told the club’s website: “Jamie is a great lad, a fantastic professional and has a desire to play – and while we were in no hurry to see him leave, we do understand his desire to play for his boyhood team and one of the biggest clubs in Scotland.
Thank you to everyone at @OfficialBHAFC for the support over the last few years. Winning promotion with the group of boys we had is something I will always remember. All the best!! ? pic.twitter.com/gAmEplrceb

“He’s been excellent for the club, ever since we signed him from Sheffield United, and wrote himself into club folklore as a crucial part of our promotion-winning side last season.
“On behalf of all at the club, I’d like to thank Jamie for his efforts and achievements during his time here and wish him the very best for the future.”
Wore the shirt many times as a kid but the chance to put it on for real is something special. Will always be worn with pride. Thank you all for the support! ?⚪️? pic.twitter.com/s0pIgRSq4y

Murty and his squad are currently in Florida for friendly tournament matches against Atletico Miniero and Corinthians.
Their next competitive match is against Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup on January 21.
Director of Football Mark Allen and Murty hope to add more new faces before then, with Rangers linked with Hamilton’s Greg Docherty and Kilmarnock’s Jordan Jones.
It is likely there will also be some departures, with many of Pedro Caixinha’s signings facing the axe.
James Tavernier and Josh Windass could also be subject to bids from down south, with the latter having bids for his services rejected already.
