MARK WARBURTON last night pleaded with Rangers fans to be patient with Jordan Rossiter.
The England Under-19 internationalist has been out with a calf injury since late August, suffering repeated setbacks in his recovery, which has caused some supporters to voice their frustrations.
“It is concerning when I read people talking about Jordan in a derogatory manner because he is more frustrated than anybody,” said the Light Blues manager.
“The boy lives and breathes football, nobody loves playing the game more than him.
“Speak to him and you will see it’s all he lives for. To see the boys going out again this morning just kills him.
“But he has had niggling injuries and we have to get to the root cause of them, simple as that.
“He has a fantastic future and when he plays for Rangers he will be here for years to come.
“He is a top young talent and fans will be excited when they see him properly.
“They have watched him six times and liked what they have seen so far.
“But he can’t come back for two or three weeks and break down. Or three or four weeks and break down again.
“We need to get him to a position where he knows he is fit and well.
“He is only 19-years-old, a young athlete and we have to get him right.
“At his age he, hopefully, has 15 playing years ahead of him or more.
“We have to make sure those years happen.”
