RANGERS defender Bruno Alves has been charged with violent conduct by the SFA after Sunday’s League Cup defeat to Motherwell.
The Portuguese international faces a two-match ban after appearing to kick out at Louis Moult.
The notice of complaint from the compliance officer offers an immediate two-game ban or an appeal tribunal on Thursday if the decision is contested.
An appeal would free Alves to play against Kilmarnock at Ibrox on Wednesday, while he could potentially miss Saturday’s trip to Murrayfield to play Hearts and a home game against Partick on November 4.
There were a number of controversial clashes during the ill-tempered match, after which Alves complained about the performance of referee Steven McLean.
Moult and Eduardo Herrera were booked in the aftermath of the incident as tempers flared.
Motherwell’s Ryan Bowman escaped punishment for an elbow that broke Rangers defender Fabio Cardoso’s nose.
There has been no word from the SFA as yet on whether any further disciplinary action will be taken.
