RANGERS have been linked with a number of big name players as a summer of speculation over transfer targets for new boss Steven Gerrard begins.
According to The Scottish Sun, ex-Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva and defender Martin Skrtel are on his wishlist.
Leiva is currently at Lazio, having made a £5m switch from Anfield in July of last year.
Skrtel, another ex-teammate of Gerrard, is at Fenerbache and was one of the first names to be linked with a move to Ibrox when the former England captain was unveiled.
Former England striker Jermain Defoe is also reported to be a target.
The Daily Record reports that Gerrard has held third party talks aimed at a loan deal for the 35-year-old, currently understood to be on an £80,000 a week deal at Bournemouth, as well as a temporary switch for Liverpool youngster Dominic Solanke.
West Ham’s Reece Burke and Brighton defender Connor Goldson have also been linked with a move north.
Gerrard officially starts his new job on June 1, with a major squad rebuild expected.
Scott Arfield’s move to Rangers from Burnley and a deal to bring goalkeeper Allan McGregor back to the club have both already been completed.
James Tavernier and Josh Windass have both been linked with multi-million pound moves to the Premier League, and the likes of Bruno Alves, Andy Halliday and Fabio Cardoso are expected to leave.
