Bike retailers report sales have soared by more than 300% during the coronavirus lockdown and David Dunn was keen to join the revolution.
In May, the Aberdeen dad-of-two paid £425 for a Pinnacle Kapur mountain bike from national retailer Evans Cycles.
“I have been working from home and wanted to join my wife and kids on some wee bike trips,” David, who works in the oil industry, said. “We were fed up with daily walks and wanted something we would be able to do as a family.
“I was the only one without a cycle so I decided to get myself a decent one.”
However, the bike didn’t arrive at the start of June when it was due to be delivered.
“Some accessories that I had paid extra for arrived but there was no sign of the bike.” David said. “I was fed up watching people cycling past my window and I couldn’t join them.”
After weeks of trying to contact the company about the issue with no joy, David wrote to Raw Deal for help.
At first Evans Cycles said it believed that the bike had been delivered and signed for – but further investigations revealed that it had gone missing and the company soon refunded David his £425.
Evans Cycles said: “After liaising with the courier, we can confirm that Mr Dunn’s order was unfortunately lost in transit. We have subsequently refunded Mr Dunn and we believe that he is now content that the matter has been resolved.”
David said he was grateful to Raw Deal for intervening and is now looking to buy a new bike from elsewhere.
