Eunice Farquhar was worried that a mobile phone she bought was heating up so much that it would burst into flames.
In October, Eunice, from Brechin, Angus, purchased three handsets from a trader on Amazon.
“One was for me, one was for my husband and another was for my son,” she said. “They all worked perfectly until a few months ago when the Samsung Galaxy A50 which cost £270.50 started to play up.
“First it was lagging terribly, then it started to randomly turn itself on or off and then it started to get so hot I could barely touch it, and I was worried it was going to go on fire.”
When Eunice tried to contact the seller to ask about the phone’s stated two-year guarantee, she said she got no response.
She was also getting nowhere with Samsung and Amazon, who could not get an answer from the seller either.
“I’m a key worker and I’ve been trying to deal with Amazon after what has often been a stressful day, the last time the instant chat took over an hour-and-a-half to even get through,” she said.
In frustration, Eunice contacted Raw Deal. We asked Amazon to look into the matter and the company moved swiftly to pay back the £270.50.
Amazon said: “This case has now been resolved. The customer has been contacted and a full refund has been processed.”
Eunice said she was grateful to Raw Deal for stepping in to help bring an end to a stressful saga.
