Norma Mackenzie was fed up with repeated PC repairs – and all the hassle that went with it.
She bought the HP computer from Currys in 2014 but started experiencing problems with it last year.
Norma, from Dumfries, said: “I was paying a care plan for the PC but it needed three repairs, the most recent in June.
“Technicians documented a number of issues including it freezing or running too slow.
“At one point I was on the phone to an engineer for almost three hours while he tried to help me fix it, when a loud hissing noise came from the device and he abandoned the repair.”
The computer was uplifted by Currys for examination and when it was returned new software had to be installed.
“I couldn’t manage that myself but by then I had had enough of the whole carry on and just wanted a replacement computer,” said Norma.
She wrote to Raw Deal and the good news is that Currys moved swiftly and issued Norma with a voucher for £450 towards a new PC.
Currys said: “Unfortunately, Mrs Mackenzie’s care plan had expired by the time she requested a write off.
“Nevertheless, in order to help our customer, we have issued her with a £450 voucher in goodwill, the amount she would have received for the write-off.
“Mrs Mackenzie is happy and will come into our Dumfries store to choose a new piece of tech.”
