A family was deflated when the good weather set in to discover their blow-up garden hot tub was on the blink.
Susanne Lovie, from Banff, Aberdeenshire, paid almost £500 for a Lay-Z Spa Paris model online from Argos last year.
“It was stored in its box in the garage over winter,” she said. “But when I recently took it out, the pump wasn’t heating or blowing air.”
Susanne contacted Argos about the issue but was told the warranty cover with them for the device was only for a year.
“As it has a two-year warranty I was instead given the phone number for the manufacturer but I couldn’t get through to them.”
Susanne said further attempts to complain to Argos over a period of several weeks were unsuccessful. “I was basically at my wit’s end with faulty goods and no one seemed to want to help,” she said.
Susanne wrote to Raw Deal and, when we contacted Argos on her behalf, the company moved quickly to resolve the issue.
Within a few days, a replacement spa tub was offered to Susanne but she decided on a refund instead.
Argos said: “We have spoken to Susanne and have arranged for a collection and refund of the Lay-Z Spa hot tub.”
Susanne said she was grateful to Raw Deal for stepping in.
She said: “Argos head of complaints has been in touch.
“We have had the old machine taken away and are being issued a refund.
“Thank you so much for your help.”
