Muriel Knox is relieved to be back in the saddle after her electric bike was off the road for four months because of a missing part.
The retired hospital chaplain bought the Coyote bike to get around her home city of Aberdeen after she developed hip problems.
“I have always been a cyclist and after I was told I needed a new hip, the electric version was perfect for me,” Muriel said. “I love it and was out on it just about every day.”
However, Muriel, 73, ran into problems in July when her charger suddenly stopped working.
“I went to Halfords and ordered a new one, which came three weeks later,” Muriel said. “But when I got it home, the connection did not fit the battery on my bike.
“The store staff tried their best to be helpful but they kept saying a charger was on order, and then they said they couldn’t find one.”
Weeks, then months, soon drifted by.
“I was then told they might get them by mid-October but they were not holding out much hope that they could get one that would fit,” Muriel said.
In frustration, she wrote to Raw Deal and we contacted Halfords on her behalf.
Within days, a solution was found.
Halfords said: “Our team has spoken with one of the suppliers and they are going to arrange for one to be organised for the customer. It is likely to be cosmetically different, but will still work.”
Muriel has now received the charger and is delighted to be back on the road.
She said she was grateful to Raw deal for stepping in.
Muriel added: “I have just had my first cycle run in four months. I cannot thank you enough.
“All that was required was a little adaptor for the charger but it took Raw Deal to actually get it.”
