A PLUCKY bear from Peru is the unlikely star of the most acclaimed movie on an influential review site.
The website Rotten Tomatoes – scrutinised by studio bosses in Hollwood – has revealed Paddington 2 is the best reviewed film in its history.
The comedy sequel, starring Hugh Grant, Sally Hawkins and Hugh Bonneville, has received 167 consecutive positive reviews from critics.
Rotten Tomatoes classifies reviews as either “fresh” or “rotten” and the second movie starring the marmalade-loving bear has 167 fresh ratings.
Rotten Tomatoes’ “critics’ consensus” on on the film reads: “Paddington 2 honours its star’s rich legacy with a sweet-natured sequel.
“Adorable visuals are matched by a story perfectly balanced between heartwarming family fare and purely enjoyable all-ages adventure.”
Toy Story 2 had been on the hottest positive streak until recently when comedy-drama Lady Bird overtook it, before a negative review ended a record-breaking run of glowing reviews.
Paddington 2, which was released in UK cinemas in November, proved a huge hit with audiences earning £101m worldwide.
