Schitt’s Creek star Emily Hampshire has revealed the hit comedy will return.
Speaking in Edinburgh ahead of her role in Prime Video’s new thriller series The Rig, with Martin Compston, Iain Glen and Mark Bonnar, Hampshire told P.S. Magazine she had spoken with series creator Dan Levy – who wrote Schitt’s Creek with dad Eugene – about another series.
“I don’t think we’ll ever do another series of it but I think we all will come back to do a special or a movie,” she said.
“Dan and Eugene ended it on purpose, that was the story they wanted to tell. And it’s so funny because the popularity of it only happened once we were done.
“And then people wanted more. They got offered a lot of money to keep going.
“I asked Dan and he said, ‘would you want to get to storylines about Stevie suddenly running a bakery?’ You’d have to come up with stuff that’s not true to the story.”

Hampshire said the cast treated her as family.
“Eugene, he’s like everyone’s dad who is the loveliest guy,” she said.
“A lot of people didn’t know that Sarah Levy who plays Twyla on the show is Dan’s actual real sister, and Eugene and Catherine are like brother-and-sister-like best friends.”
