A statement on the club’s website said: “Celtic Football Club is delighted to announced that James Forrest has signed a new four-year deal that will see him remain at the club until at least the summer of 2023.
“The 28-year-old has come through the ranks at Celtic, joining the club as a nine-year-old and progressing through the ranks to become a key player in Neil Lennon’s first-team.”
Neil Lennon gave Forrest his first-team debut back in May 2010 as a substitute against Motherwell, with the then 18-year-old scoring after being on the pitch for just eight minutes.
Forrest has scored a total of 81 goals for Celtic in 369 appearances and has lifted eight league titles, five Scottish Cups and four League Cups.
He was also named the PFA Scotland Player of the Year for last season.
