SCOTRAIL and Network Rail staff have received praise on social media for their handling of the disruption caused by this week’s bad weather.
Railway staff have put in long hours to keep the network running for as long as possible and to keep passengers informed about delays and cancellations.

Coming in for particular praise was the worker ‘CT’ who was manning the Twitter account through most of Wednesday and into today.
Scotrail operating limited half hourly services between Edinburgh and Glasgow
They were inundated with queries on what routes were running and when services would be back.
CT was even unable to get home so kept going into this morning.
Couldn't get home! ^CT

Where many would have lost their patience, CT managed to keep calm – even when constantly replying to people who clearly hadn’t paid attention to information they had been given.
Several Twitter users thanked CT for their work, hoping that bosses would give the social media team a pay rise for their efforts.
CT, we salute you!
Feeling strongly for the @ScotRail twitter staff who must surely now be banging their heads off the keyboards muttering no trains, NO TRAINS, HOW MANY TIMES! NOOO TRAAAAAINS

Technology can fail, but you can trust the human staff running the ScotRail Twitter account who are up to date and know what they're talking about.

Oi @ScotRail just to let you know, big CT and CG on the twitter are absolute legends. You'd better give them a bonus or something for dealing with all these absolute planks #scotrail

CT, I hope you get to clock off and get home safely soon. I really feel for you having to answer calmly to the idiots that don't have brains in their heads ? #redweatherwarning #dontTravel #StaySafe

There was also praise for train staff across the country who helped people get home for the night, as well as those working hard to try to get lines open.
Services are expected to be cancelled for most of the day, with details for tomorrow yet to be confirmed.
ScotRail advise passengers not to travel today with most services cancelled
The Red weather warning expired at 10am, but an Amber alert remains in place until 6pm this evening.
Drivers have been warned to stay off the roads, and bus services will be subject to cancellations throughout the day.
Ok, so I’m having a long and slow journey home, but the @scotrail people at Edinburgh Waverley are the most professional and helpful people I’ve ever seen in a crisis.

Big thanks to @ScotRail staff at #Inverurie for their efforts clearing snow and gritting the platforms over the last couple of days #everydayheroes #beastfromtheeast

Shoutout to Scotrail and First workers standing in absolutely bitter conditions taking abuse about decisions taken by their superiors with public safety in mind
