Amy Macdonald has added her support to a charity drive to help supply Scotland’s NHS staff with personal protective equipment (PPE).
The singer released a video to back MedSupplyDriveUK Scotland’s appeal for PPE donations, filmed while under lockdown at home.
She said: “Unfortunately, all that we hear in the news right now is bad – and that includes the massive issues that our NHS is having with PPE.
“There are so many frontline staff that keep saying they still do not have the protection required to treat COVID-19 patients.
“They need masks, goggles, hazmat or boiler suits, gloves and visors. If you are a business and you have any of this stuff and you can donate it then please do.”
MedSupplyDriveUK is a volunteer group of doctors, medical students and allies, who have come together to aid the stretched NHS amid unprecedented demand for PPE.
They’ve emphasised the fact that every piece of PPE has the potential to save a life.
Businesses can donate PPE to the service delivery centres or entrances of any of their local healthcare facilities.
Amy’s message continues the recent wave of support for the appeal from the Scottish music industry, with artists such as Mogwai, The Pastels, Camera Obscura and Kathryn Joseph taking to social media to voice their support as part of #musiciansforPPE.
