A new platform has been launched to help Scots support their local food and drinks businesses during the coronavirus lockdown.
‘Sip, Scran, Support’, started by Edinburgh-based food and drink agency LUX, provides shoppers with details of the different food and drink services on offer across the country.
The platform also flags local food banks in need of food and monetary donations.
The initiative comes after LUX’s own survey found 60% of Scots intend to buy from smaller, independent retailers in the coming weeks as the lockdown continues.
Businesses are offering delivery or ‘no contact collection’ for everything from wine and cheese boards to pancake packs and bagels.
Mhairi MacLeod, Director and Co-Founder of LUX, said: “At LUX, Scottish food and drink is our bread and butter and Sip Scran Support provides a platform to showcase the diversification and creativity taking place across the industry.
“We’re thrilled to see that the majority of Scots are looking to support local businesses at a time when they need it most and, by launching Sip Scran Support, we aim to connect those consumers with everyday essentials, takeaway treats and community causes across the country.”
Popular pancake bar Stack & Still, bakery Twelve Triangles, and deli Spry Wines are included in the listings, and LUX are inviting Scots to send in their suggestions for additional businesses to be added.
