SCOTLAND and France’s rugby game today in the Six Nations championship isn’t just about points – it will also mark the first time the teams have competed for the Auld Alliance trophy.
The new cup has been brought in to honour the war dead from both countries’ rugby communities on the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
Thirty-one Scottish internatonal rugby players were killed in the conflict, along with 21 of their French counterparts.
The match at Murrayfield kicks off at 3pm today.
