Snow Patrol and Tom Grennan announced for 20th edition of the SSE Scottish Music Awards

SNOW Patrol and Tom Grennan have been announced as the first nominees and performers for the 2018 SSE Scottish Music Awards.

The star-studded event will take place in Glasgow and is held in partnership with the Nordoff Robbins Scotland music charity.

Organisers say it’ll be the biggest bash yet as the awards celebrate their 20th edition, switching from the city’s Old Fruitmarket venue to the larger SEC.

The ceremony will not only reflect on an incredible year for music in Scotland, but also on the soundtrack of a nation for the past two decades.

The SSE Scottish Music Awards have been the main fundraising event for music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins Scotland since 1996.

Funds raised on the night are a vital part of the charity’s ability to provide music therapists and sessions to those who need it most.

2017’s winners and attendees included Emeli Sandé, Nina Nesbitt, Lewis Capaldi, Tom Walker and Hipsway, with 2018 set to be the biggest and best in the awards’ 20 year history.

The first acts announced reflect this, with Snow Patrol a band who have become embedded in Scotland’s music scene since forming in Dundee in the mid nineties.

And rising star Tom Grennan made the jump from the King Tut’s stage at last year’s TRNSMT festival to performing on the main stage at this year’s.

A number of other special guests, surprises and huge celebrations are planned at the event, which takes place on Saturday December 1.
