STEPHEN FRY has revealed that he’s been battling prostate cancer.
The comedian shared a video message on his website earlier today revealing the news to his fans.
The 60-year-old said that he had had an operation before Christmas to remove lymph nodes, which proved successful.
Sharing the video on Twitter, he wrote: “For the last 2 months I’ve been in the throes of a rather unwelcome and unexpected adventure.
“I’m sorry I haven’t felt able to talk about it till now, but here I am explaining what has been going on.”
In his own unique style, Fry tells the story of his diagnosis and subsequent treatment in the 12-minute long clip.
“Cancer’s one of those shocking, hard, difficult words,” he says, “but so far as we know it’s all been got.”
He later adds: “For the moment I want you all to know I’m fit, well, and happy because rumours had started to swell.
“Stephen Fry’s cancer fight… Of course it wasn’t a fight, I just submitted and let the surgeon do his work.”
The 60-year-old also urged men of his age to get their PSA levels checked.
