STEVEN GERRARD has agreed a deal to become Rangers boss.
According to reports, the former Liverpool and England captain will be announced as the successor to Graeme Murty later today.
Earlier this week, Gerrard said that he had held ‘positive talks’ over the position and hoped to progress a deal by the end of the week.
It appears that negotiations were successful, and that he’ll sign a three-year deal at Ibrox.
It’ll be Gerrard’s first foray into managing a senior side, having only managed Liverpool’s under-18s since his retirement as a player.
Former Scotland star Gary McAllister is understood to be heading to Glasgow as his ex-teammate’s assistant.
Another former Anfield star that could be Rangers-bound is Martin Skrtel.
The 33-year-old defender, currently at Fenerbahce, is top of Gerrard’s wanted list, reports the Daily Record.
The new Ibrox boss will look to bolster the squad before next season, and could be set to be handed a substantial amount of money to do so by the board.
Murty was relieved of his duties as Rangers manager on Tuesday having been in charge since the sacking of Pedro Caixinha in October.
Jimmy Nicholl and Jonatan Johansson will take charge of Saturday’s home game against Kilmarnock.
