HOPES have been raised about the creation of a new passenger and freight ferry service between Scotland and Belgium.
Last month saw a freight-only service between Rosyth in Fife and Zeebrugge axed amid mounting losses for the operator.
But SNP MP for Dunfermline and West Fife Douglas Chapman has met with the Government of Flanders region of Belgium to discuss the possibility of a new link.
He said: “Even before the withdrawal of the freight service, we were already in talks with Flanders regarding a new passenger and freight ferry service from Rosyth into Europe.”
The Rosyth passenger service stopped in 2010 and became freight-only.
