Young dance star Ellie Fergusson is set to wow Strictly fans but the people she most hopes to impress are admission officers at the country’s best dance schools.
The 14-year-old, who took home £50,000 when she won another BBC talent show earlier this year, will tonight fulfil her dream by delivering a solo performance on Strictly.
And, following on from her success on The Greatest Dancer in February, the teenager hopes to continue her education by attending dance college next year.
She hopes her TV appearances might help her application, if only just a little.
“Hopefully I’m going to start dance college, but I’m still not sure where,” said the contemporary dancer, who is from Livingston, West Lothian. “I’m auditioning everywhere.”
Ellie, who will dance to Keeping Your Head Up by Birdy, will be cheered on from the sidelines by her mum.
Meanwhile, after landing in the bottom two during last weekend’s show, Strictly contestant Saffron Barker admits she has “been working harder than ever”. And although long hours in rehearsals have been difficult, the strict regime has helped take her mind off a difficult week, after her family home was burgled while they slept.
“Me and my family are just genuinely so grateful that we are all just safe,” explained the 19-year-old, who last night impressed the Strictly judges with her samba to Walking on Sunshine by Take Me to Rio Collective.
