TIME Magazine has named a group of people who spoke out on sexual harassment as their ‘Person of the Year’.
The accolade honours the ‘Silence Breakers’ whose bravery in taking a stand led to a worldwide movement that encouraged victims of assault and harassment to share their stories.
The cover features actress Ashley Judd, who spoke out about Harvey Weinstein, as well as Uber software engineer Susan Fowler, campaigner Adama Iwu, singer Taylor Swift and farmworker Isabel Pascual who all share their stories in the special edition of the magazine.
TIME’s editor-in-chief Edward Felsenthal revealed the cover on US network NBC’s Today Show, adding that the woman shown only partially on the cover is someone who “doesn’t feel that she can come forward without threatening her livelihood.”

On the magazine’s website, he wrote: “The galvanizing actions of the women on our cover along with those of hundreds of others, and of many men as well, have unleashed one of the highest-velocity shifts in our culture since the 1960s.”
US President Donald Trump, who won the accolade last year, is in second place.
He had earlier this year claimed he had been offered the top spot but turned it down, and has himself been at the centre of sexual harassment allegations.
In third was Xi Jinping, the leader of China.
