TODAY is the final day you can register to vote in the General Election – and with control of the country at stake there are plenty of people wanting to remind those who can to do so.

Much of this encouragement is aimed at young people. Why? Well, according to statistics form Ipsos Mori just 43% of 18 to 24-year-olds voted in the 2015 election, compared with 78% of those aged 65 or over.
How to register
Visit gov.uk/register-to-vote to make sure you are registered.You’ll need to input your name, address, National Insurance number and whether or not you want a postal vote – it should only take a few minutes.
You do not need to re-register if you’re already registered as a voter or applied before the local elections.
