Location
In the heart of Aberdeen’s swanky Marischal Square.
First Impressions
With its stylish mustard-coloured booth seating, and an on-view kitchen and wine store, it’s smart and welcoming.
Service
First class. We had only to wait a couple of minutes before our drink and food orders were taken by a smiling waiter; knowledgeable about all dishes on offer.
Menu
We had the choice of the Presto menu or the more pricey a la carte. We went for the latter – divided into easy to follow sections like pasta, pizza, risotto, al forno – and were spoiled for choice.
Taste
Fabulous! We started with calamari fritti, along with a side order of Bruschetta Aglio Burro (garlic bread). The calamari was perfectly prepared, soft, succulent and off the scale delicious. And it was plentiful.
A single dish was more than enough to share. We followed with a risotto pollo and king prawns pan fried in a lemon garlic and white wine sauce and served with rice. The risotto featured tender chunks of chicken breast, tossed with onion, broccoli, and cream and topped with butter and Parmesan – scrumptious! But the star of the show for this reviewer were the king prawns which were among some of the best tasted yet.
Ambience
Laid-back and friendly but super professional. We thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and great service and were not in the least surprised to see fellow diners relishing a similar experience. This is one restaurant to which we will certainly return.
Price
With drinks (including a mocktail) the bill came to just under £50 – entirely reasonable given the quality and the size of the portions.
P.S. Try a non-alcoholic mocktail like the French Fancy with pineapple and cranberry juice with lemon, sugar syrup and strawberry.
