RETURNING to the ice together has been “hell” for iconic duo Torvill and Dean.
The pair reunited for Dancing on Ice after a four-year break and the launch night of the new series pulled in 8.6 million viewers.
But Christopher Dean, 59, and Jayne Torvill, 60, have yet to perform to the audience, opting instead to sit on the judging panel.
They will take to the ice for the final next Sunday and have stayed tight-lipped about whether they will perform the Bolero routine which made them famous, but between Dean’s arthritic knees and the time apart, rehearsals have not been plain sailing for the “couple who aren’t a couple”.
“It was two days of hell. We left at quite a high level and some of those skills have lost their edge, so you have to work to get them back,” said Dean.
The return of the show has been so successful that it was already been commissioned for 2019 and Torvill insisted there were no hard feelings when it was axed in 2013.
She said: “We were shattered so we were looking forward to a break.
“It’s only recently I started to think how much I missed it. When they said they wanted to bring it back, we were both very much up for it.”
Dancing On Ice Live is touring the UK from March 23 to April 15.
